An extremely popular non-profit organization, the National Military Family Association is devoted to tackling issues faced by military families. The Association has been working towards helping military personnel and their families access health care, enjoy a secure retirement, study at great schools, develop work opportunities for partners / spouses and have support if they are unfortunately widowed. The charity has done some splendid work and their achievement speaks volumes on their efforts.

Creating more than $2 million as scholarships to military partners for getting good education; organizing relaxation retreats for families that are affected by long, assignment-related separations or by unfortunate accidents caused in war zones; helping almost 45,000 children by organizing summer camps that helped the kids get over the absence of their parents working in war zone.

Established as the Military Wives Association in 1969, it was formed as an effort of military wives coming together to ensure that widowed friends are looked after. In just a couple of years, the Survivor Benefit Plan was enacted as a law due to their efforts and since then, the small unit of determined wives has transformed itself into a platoon consisting of military families from all ranks and services. Women for Women International, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the upliftment of women residing in some of the worst war-torn regions of the world. It specifically targets 8 countries: Afghanistan; Bosnia & Herzegovina; Democratic Republic of Congo; Iraq; Kosovo; Nigeria; Rwanda and South Sudan. The organization believes that permanent changes in the life of women caught in a war-like situation can be brought about by providing them with knowledge and the resources to use it. Every woman enrolled in this program receives business training and job skills to help them earn for themselves and their family. They learn about their rights and how to get them within the society they live in. Most of these women have faced struggle for survival and this one-year program gives them an opportunity to rise above their past and get a chance at living.

This organization was founded by a charismatic woman, Zainab Salbi, who is recognized as a Global Leader in the 'World Civil Rights' arena. She is supported by an able staff dedicated to the cause of women as well as generous donors, volunteers and supporters that have contributed to its success. Since its foundation, this organization has provided hope to more than 351,000 women affected by armed conflicts. One of the premier conservation organizations, "The Nature Conservancy" strives to make this world a better place to live in. Since 1951, this organization has managed to jot an amazing record in the area of nature conservation. This organization works throughout the United States as well as in another 35 countries worldwide. Their programs are based from Zambia to Alaska to Australia, covering some of the most important habitats, ranging from corals to the grasslands. Their work has helped protect vast tracts of nature; almost 119 million acres on land and thousands of miles of rivers, and more than a 100 marine conservation projects are being currently handled by them/

The Nature Conservancy's inception can be traced to 1915 in the formation of "The Ecological Society of America". On Oct 22, 1951, the organization was incorporated as a nonprofit organization. In 1955, the Land Preservation Fund, a revolving loan fund, was used for the first time in purchasing a 60-acre tract at Mianus River Gorge with $7500.
