Nortriptyline is an antidepressant medication of the tricyclic class.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

abnormal production of milk in females
blurred vision/eye pain
breast enlargement(both males and females)
confusion/hallucinations
difficulty breathing
fainting spells
fever
irregular/fast/pounding heartbeat, palpitations
muscle stiffness/spasms
pain/difficulty passing urine
loss of bladder control
seizures
sexual difficulties
stomach pain
swelling of the testicles
tingling/pain/numbness in the feet or hands
tremors (shaking)
unusual weakness/tiredness
yellowing of the eyes/skin

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

astemizole
cisapride
probucol
terfenadine
thioridazine
MAO inhibitors
other medicines for mental depression

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

alcohol problem
asthma
blood disorders/disease
difficulty breathing
diabetes
difficulty passing urine
glaucoma
heart disease(recent heart attack)
liver disease
over active thyroid
parkinson's disease
prostate trouble
schizophrenia
seizures
stomach disease
taking intramuscular injections

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Aventyl is used to elevate the mood of patients with depression.

Store at room temperature below 86 degrees F / 30 degrees C, away from heat and moisture.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

This medicine can affect blood glucose levels. If you are a diabetic inform your health care professional.

If you need to go in for any x ray procedures using contrast agents, inform your health care professional you are taking aventyl.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.
