This medicine is not meant for children below 18 years. If your doctor prescribes this for a younger child please watch for serious symptoms they may develop very suddenly, such as worsening depression; thinking about harming or killing oneself, agitation, panic attacks, difficulty falling asleep, irritability; aggressive behavior, severe restlessness, frenzied excitement.

Citalopram is classified as a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI).

Take Citalopram exactly as prescribed.

Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

changes in sex drive/ability
confusion/agitation/anxiety/restlessness
dizziness/light-headedness
skin rash/itching/hives
suicidal thoughts
talking fast and excited feelings/actions that are out of control
vomiting
diarrhoea
dry mouth
excessive sweating
hallucinations
loss of appetite
seizures
sleep disorders
stomach pain

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

MAO inhibitors

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

If overdose is suspected, you need to call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim is unconscious or not breathing, you need to call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

diabetes
heart disease
kidney disease
liver disease
mania
receiving electroconvulsive therapy
seizures
suicidal thoughts(previous suicide attempt)

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Inform your health care professional about your missed dose.

Citalopram is used to treat mental depression.

Ask your health care professional for more infomation.

Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.

Patients and their families should watch out for worsening or signs of worsening depression or thoughts of suicide.
