Do not take danazol if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. A method of birth control (contraception) other than oral contraceptives should be used while taking danazol. If you become pregnant, call your doctor immediately. Life-threatening strokes, increased pressure in the brain, and serious liver disease complicated by potentially life-threatening abdominal bleeding have been reported during therapy with danazol. Talk to your doctor about the potential risks associated with this medication.

Take danazol capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the capsules with a drink of water. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include acne, dizziness, fainting, weight gain, or vaginal itching or dryness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience abnormal growth of facial or other fine hair, yellowing of the skin or eyes, changes in vision, sore throat or fever, or unusual bleeding or bruising. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one and contact your doctor or pharmacist.

This medicine is a synthetic steroid used to treat endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease. It may also be used to treat excessive menstrual bleeding or other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Danazol is also used to prevent attacks of angioedema in both males and females.

Keep out of the reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

Check with your prescriber or health care professional if you are a female patient and notice any changes in your voice, decrease in breast size, or if hair starts growing on your face.

Do not take contraceptive birth pills while you are taking danazol.

Danazol can affect your menstrual cycle and you may stop having menstrual periods. These will return to normal within 2 to 3 months after you stop taking danazol.
