	Description This medicine is an anti convulsant.


	How to use This tablet is to be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Take exactly as directed.


	Side Effects If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately. Fever Confusion Swollen Glands Joint Weakness Unusual Bruising/Bleeding Blisters/Rash/Itching/Hives Depression/Suicidal Thoughts Tiny purplish spots on the skin Breathing Difficulty/Swallowing


	Drug Interaction Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form. Aspirin Alcohol Antacids Isoniazid Sevelamer Blood Thinners Barbiturate medicines Anti- Inflammatory drugs Medication for Mental Depression Medication to dissolve blood clots Medication for Psychotic Disturbances Medication for Seizure(convulsion) or Epilepsy


	Over Dose In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes

This medicine is also known by the names Divalproex sodium and Valproate sodium.

Consult a doctor for the use of this medication in children.

This medication may cause serious/life threatening damage to the liver/pancreas, especially in children who are less than 2 years old or patients already suffering from mental retardation, patients already taking more than one medication for seizure disorders, inherited diseases that prevent changing of food to energy in the body. This medication can cause birth defects, if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breast feeding inform your doctor. If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately. If you experience Nausea, Stomach Pain, Appetite Loss, Vomiting, contact your doctor immediately.


	Missed Dose Do not double dose to make up for a missed dose.


	Uses It works by increasing a certain natural substance in the brain. It is used to treat certain seizures caused by epilepsy and also to treat mania in people suffering from Bipolar Disorder.

	Storage Store it at room temperature, away from excess heat and moisture.

Precaution

Drink plenty of fluids whilst on a course with this medication.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery inform your doctor you are taking this medication.

Do not stop this medication or change the brand without consulting your doctor.

Inform your doctor if you have had or have Low Blood Protein, Urea Cycle Disorder, Kidney or Liver Disease(s), Blood Disease or Disorder, Brain Damage or Disease.
