Erythromycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria.
How to use
Take erythromycin tablets by mouth taking a sip of water first, before taking the tablets or capsules, may help you swallow them.
Side Effects
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mouth sores or if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur:
fainting
fast/irregular heartbeat
persistent nausea/vomiting
severe stomach/abdominal pain
unusual fatigue
dark urine
yellowing eyes or skin
seizures
hearing problems (loss of hearing)
Tell your doctor about any other medicine or supplements that you may be taking or are allergic to any medication or supplement.
Over Dose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
Notes
Erythromycin also treats severe acne, and prevents heart problems in patients with rheumatic fever.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Erythromycin kills certain bacteria or stops their growth.
Other Uses
This medication may also be used to treat a certain type of stomach condition involving slowed digestion (gastroparesis).
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed.
Precaution
Call your prescriber or health care professional for advice if you get severe or watery diarrhea.
