Paroxetine is an anti depressant.

Paroxetine should not be admnistered to children under 18 years of age.

It is understood that teenagers who take medication like paroxetine run the risk of becoming suicidal.

Pay close attention to your childs behaviour if they are on a course with this medication and inform your health care professional immediately if you notice any sudden/unusual behavioural changes.

Keep all appointments with your childs doctor, as the doctor will want to keep in constant touch through appointments or by telephone.

Paroxetine is an anti depressant.

Paroxetine belongs to a family of medicines known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Consult your doctor for the exact dosage and take exactly as directed by your health care professional.

DO NOT increase/decrease your dosage on your own.

Paroxetine tablets are to be swallowed whole with a glass of water and maybe taken with or without food.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

Agitation

Breathing difficulty
Anxiety/restlessness
Excited feelings/actions
Palpitations of the heart
Painful/prolonged erection
Dizziness/light headedness
Unusual tiredness/weakness
Tingling/pain/numbness in the hands/feet
Difficulty passing urine/urge to pass urine more often

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

Diet drugs
Primidone
Phenytoin
Cimetidine
Astemizole
Terfenadine
Thioridazine

Theophylline
Fosphenytoin
Amphetamine
Phenobarbital
St. John's wort
Doxercalciferol
MAO inhibitors
Dextromethorphan
Dextroamphetamine
Migraine medication
Pain relief medication
Antacids (with Paxil CR)
Psychotic disturbance medication
Medication for depression/anxiety
Medication for regulating heart rhythm/blood pressure

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Keep all your laboratory appointments and with your health care professional. Your health care professional may order certain laboratory test(s) to check your response to paroxetine.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medicine for coughs/colds or any other ailment before consulting with your health care professional whilst on a course with this medication.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose.

If you miss a dose, inform your health care professional and consult your health care professional for further guidance.

Paroxetine (Paxil) is used in the treatment of :

Depression
Obsessive-compulsive disorders
Panic attacks/Social anxiety disorder Generalized anxiety disorder, and
Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 59 - 86 degrees F (15 - 30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

Continue taking your medication, unless asked to discontinue by your health care professional.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Avoid alcoholic drinks/beverages.
