Phenergan (promethazine) may cause breathing to slow/stop. It may also cause death in children. Consult a paediatrician for the use of this medicine in children. This medicine should not be given to infants and children under 2 years of age. This medicine should be given to children only if the paediatrician says it is necessary to do so, under strict supervision and with caution.

Promethazine is a phenothiazine (a derivative antihistamine.)


	Take as directed by your health care professional. This tablet is to be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

Irregular heartbeat/palpitations
Agitation/nervousness/excitability
Unusual bleeding/bruising/tiredness
Inability to sleep (more likely in children)
Increased sensitivity to sun/ultraviolet light

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.


	In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.


	Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive. If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately. If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine. Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages.


	Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.


	Promethazine is used in the treatment hay fever symptoms and various other allergies.

	Store at room temperature between 59 - 77 degrees F (15 - 25 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.
