Topiramate is an anticonvulsant.

Take topamax exactly as prescibed by your health care professional.

Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

agitation
difficulty controlling muscle movements
eye pain/redness/swelling
hearing impairment
kidney stones
nose bleeds
skin rash/itching
stomach pain with nausea/vomiting
swelling of the face/lips/tongue
vision problems
fast/irregular breathing patterns
difficulty speaking
difficulty walking
irritability/other changes in mood
depression
mood changes
difficulty breathing
restlessness
tingling/pain/numbness in the hands or feet
unusual weakness/tiredness
decreased sweating and/or rise in body temperature
redness/blistering/peeling/loosening of the skin (including inside the mouth)
vomiting
yellowing of the skin/eyes

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

birth control pills
medications for sleep
medications for muscle relaxation
methazolamide
phenobarbital
other hormones for birth control(including implants or injections)
bosentan
carbamazepine
dichlorphenamide
digoxin
ethanol
hydrochlorothiazide
medications for pain
primidone
phenytoin
pioglitazone
probenecid
sevelamer
valproic acid

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

cirrhosis of the liver
metabolic acidosis
following a ketogenic diet
scheduled for surgery(any kind)
other liver disease
diarrhea
glaucoma
kidney stones
kidney disease
lung disease

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Topiramate is used to treat some types of seizures in patients with epilepsy or with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.
