Travoprost or Travatan can be used in conditions when there is an increase in the intraocular pressure. It is useful in patients suffering from disorders like glaucoma of open-angle category and in ocular hypertension. This helps by increasing the quantity of liquid that can be drained out of the eye. This reduces the pressure in the eyes and relieves the intraocular pressure. Decrease in the pressure in the eye also helps in prevention of blindness. Travatan can help in maintaining the normal functions of the eye by managing the fluid flow in the eye, thereby regulating the normal pressure.
Travatan is available in the form of an ophthalmic solution. The dose recommended for Travatan is 1 drop in the affected eye, once daily, preferably in the evening. When patients make a decision to buy Travatan, they should keep it in mind that this medicine is not to be used more than in the prescribed dose. It has been proved that using Travatan or Travoprost in higher doses leads to decrease in its action of reducing intraocular pressure. A decrease in pressure in the ocular region begins as early as 2 - 3 hrs after administration of the first dose. The effect reaches its peak after approximately 12 hours of using this medicine. This medicine can also be used simultaneously with some other local ophthalmic medicines to enhance the intraocular pressure reducing effect.
